Sleep Common Questions
How does the Sleep Score work?
Your Sleep Score is a percentage (0â100%) that summarizes your sleep quality and efficiency each night.
Scores are categorized as follows:
Poor sleep: below 70%
Normal sleep: 70%â85%
Excellent sleep: above 85%
What goes into your Sleep Score?
Time Asleep: Your total sleep duration.
Deep Sleep: Your recorded Deep Sleep duration compared with Tryon AIâs scoring target, adjusted for age and biological sex when available.
REM Sleep: Your recorded REM Sleep duration compared with Tryon AIâs scoring target.
Heart Rate Dip: The reduction in your average heart rate during sleep compared with waking hours.
Sleep Efficiency: The proportion of your time in bed spent asleep.
Sleep Continuity: How uninterrupted your sleep was.
Tracking your Sleep Score over time helps you identify patterns and improve long-term sleep quality.
Why is my sleep score so different from other apps?
Different apps use different algorithms. Tryon AI calculates sleep with its own factors and weighting, so scores wonât match others. You can view more about Sleep Score here.
Why is my Sleep Score low?
A lower Sleep Score can reflect insufficient sleep duration, Deep or REM Sleep below Tryon AIâs scoring targets, a smaller Heart Rate Dip, lower Sleep Efficiency, or more interrupted sleep.
Review your individual Sleep Score contributors to see which factors affected that nightâs score.
How do naps affect my Sleep Score?
Naps do not directly impact your Sleep Score, as the score only considers your primary (overnight) sleep.
However, naps can:
Help reduce sleep debt
Lower how much sleep you need the following night
Where can I find detailed sleep metrics?
You can view detailed sleep data in your Primary Sleep activity:
From the Timeline, or
Go to Sleep Score â Scroll down â Primary Sleep
Metrics include:
Sleep Efficiency
Sleep Continuity
Heart Rate Dip
Sleep Stages
Time Asleep
Graphs include:
Sleeping Heart Rate
Sleeping Heart Rate Variability
Sleeping Respiratory Rate
Sleeping SpOâ
Why does it show a nap when I didnât take one?
Tryon AI does not directly track sleep or naps, it reads data from Apple Health.
To check:
Open Apple Health â Sleep Score â Sleep
Scroll down and tap âShow All Dataâ
Review which app or device logged the entry
Incorrect nap data usually comes from another connected app or device.
How do I manually add sleep data?
You can manually add sleep in Tryon AI:
Option 1: Go to Sleep Score â Scroll to the timeline â Tap the â+â button
Option 2: On Timeline â Tap the â+â button â Tap âSleepâ
You can add:
Sleep sessions for the current day
Naps
Important notes:
You cannot add full overnight sleep from previous nights
Naps within ~15 minutes of your main sleep may merge into that session
For full control, you can also log sleep directly in Apple Health.
How do I turn off snooze on the sleep alarm?
When your alarm is ringing:
Open the Tryon AI Watch app
Tap âStopâ instead of âSnoozeâ
Why isnât my Sleep Score improving?
If your Sleep Score remains low, review which contributors are consistently lower: Time Asleep, Deep Sleep, REM Sleep, Heart Rate Dip, Sleep Efficiency, or Sleep Continuity. Look at patterns over multiple nights. Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, allowing enough time for sleep, and reducing nighttime disturbances may help.
How can I increase the haptic strength on the alarm?
On your watch, open the Alarm and tap the three dots in the top right corner. Once an alarm is set, scroll down to the Alarm Haptic section and choose your preferred intensity.
Options include: Progressive, Gentle, Medium, and Intense.
Does Tryon AI adjust Deep Sleep ratings for age?
Yes. Tryon AI adjusts its Deep Sleep scoring target based on age and biological sex when that information is available. The target decreases with age. The target duration is calculated using your Sleep Needed, which incorporates your Sleep Goal, recent Strain, and Sleep Debt. Your rating is therefore not determined solely by Deep Sleep as a percentage of the time you actually slept.
What do the Deep Sleep ratings mean?
Poor, Fair, Good, and Excellent describe how your recorded Deep Sleep compares with Tryon AI's scoring target. These ratings are separate from your personal historical range and overall Sleep Score. A Poor rating does not, by itself, establish that your sleep is medically abnormal.
How does Tryon AI determine my Deep Sleep target?
For adults aged 30 to 70+, Tryon AI's Deep Sleep scoring target decreases with age, ranging from 13% down to 9% of Sleep Needed for males, and 14% down to 10% for females. These are Tryon AI's scoring targets, not clinical minimum requirements. If age or biological sex is unavailable, Tryon AI uses a default target of 12.5%.
